I ordered a rug on October 2,2020 with the understanding that normal delivery ( outside of an Amazon-type environment) could take up to 2 weeks.
I have made 3-4 inquiries about delivery. They provide no tracking numbers. After 3 weeks, I still have nothing. Someone always responds thanking me for my patience, but that no consolation.
It's a horrible process, and once I get delivery (if I get delivery), it will be my last encounter. Beware if you decide to order from English Elm.
Paid $200 for a console table. Received a poor quality item made of particle board and one leg is 1/2" shorter than the other three. I sent them pictures of the wobbly table, customer service rep responded saying it's because my floors are not level and refused to provide a return label, claiming the table is not broken.

I ordered a patio set (love seat, 2 chairs and a coffee table). Same set was out of stock at the big box stores. It was delivered in the estimated time frame but had a manufacturer defect. I was able to fix it by drilling a new hole and continyed assembling. It was fine but I emailed the English Elm team and they sent me 2 new chairs. That were delivered within 48 hours of my email. Now I have 4 chairs which is cool. Would order from them again. Super responsive and a quick and reasonable solution to my issue.
I ordered a rug 5 days ago and I have no idea when I will get it. After reading the reviews I have the feeling they don't have any of the items people order. This is probably a garage operated business with a few people who after receive the order, they scramble to find the items and resell them.
I'm calling the credit card an report fraud. In a digital era, it is unacceptable not to get a response to an email in less than 24h.
I'm extremely disappointed as I placed an order for an expensive piece of furniture and 24 hours later they claim it's back ordered and I "have a spot in line". I want my order cancelled and my money back so I can order from a reputable company. I have received NO response via email and the phone number is always busy.
I ordered a bed from english elm in february and was under the impression it was in stock since it was on the website. About a week later I get an email saying the bed is out of stock but I will get it in March. However, since then it has been pushed back 4 times and I finally cancelled my order when it was pushed back to June. Don't waste your time with english elm unless you want to wait a year for your things to arrive
I purchased something from this site back in February only to be told it was no longer being sold and asked if I wanted a refund. I of course said yes but it was days after my credit card had been charged and the refund took forever... I should have known better because a few months later I ordered another item from the item and again was told it was out of stock. I told them to cancel it again and then it showed up in the mail a few days later... I had already purchased the EXACT same item from another site and now I can't get a hold of anyone at customer service to return it...
We purchased 4 chairs from English Elm – one arrived a few weeks later and the other 3 arrived looking entirely different than the first one about 1 week after. We contacted English Elm about this, asking them to correct. They asked for serial numbers that didn’t exist and kept putting us off rather than returning the merchandise and crediting our account. This went on for weeks, so we disputed the charge. Andrew from English Elm’s claims department didn’t appreciate this and questioned why we would continue having our money held while he and English Elm took no action to resolve their issue, and expressed anger in emails rather than resolving. After sending us Fedex return labels, we returned the chairs – but then English Elm charged our credit card AGAIN. This of course, is fraud.
When I contacted Andrew by email he didn’t respond. I contacted him again, and he said, “It’s out of our hands,” even though committing fraud is definitely grounds for a lawsuit and probably should be handled by crediting back our account.
I don’t think you should give English Elm a dime of your money, as you might guess. The only thing worse than having a company steal your money is having them insult you in the process. English Elm has done both. This is clearly the worst experience I’ve ever had with any company I’ve spent more than $500 with. I can’t believe I can’t give them ZERO stars, but I will tell the entire world about this and file a lawsuit if they don’t return the money they’ve stolen from me and apologize for how they’ve handled this. Particularly, I fully expect an apology from Andrew in claims.
We ordered a coffee table on April 20th. 24hrs later we received a email stating "Unfortunately, the !nspire Nila Coffee Table just sold out on our end and with !nspire as well, and therefore is out of stock everywhere due to unprecedented demand. The next shipment is coming in within a couple weeks with only 7 left to reserve on that shipment. These ETA dates are given to us by the !nspire warehouse, so they can change. Since the ETA date is imminent and the stock is limited we have reserved your place on the shipment and will send tracking as soon as the item ships." This is pulled right from the email. I called the number provided and EVERY OPTION says they are busy and to leave a message or to email them. Emails go unanswered. Its been WEEKS of radio silence but MY CARD was Charged on the 20th...... BIG SCAM.
They do not respond to emails. Their phone line is set up so that you cannot talk to a person. You are to leave a message. They do not call you back. I was sent an email indicating that my item had been delivered. It has not. I cannot get them to communicate with me and I cannot get tracking information. However they have charged my card for the furniture.
They refuse to respond to emails. The phone system is set up so that you can never talk to a person. They ask you to leave a message but they never return your call. They sent me an email indicating that my furniture was delivered. It has not been delivered. They have charged my card however. I have no tracking information. I don't even know where to go with this.
I wish I had read reviews about English Elm before I bought from them. I was looking for an ottoman which was back ordered everywhere else, but English Elm's site didn't say anything about it being back ordered or out of stock, so I went ahead and bought it. I got a confirmation email but didn't hear anything else for 3 days. After 3 days I received an email saying that they don't actually have it in stock and won't be receiving any stock until August and they wanted to put me on a wait list. Umm, no, I'm not waiting 5 months for something you told me you had now. I tried calling but never got through to anyone and they didn't call me back. I sent an email and cancelled my order and got my money back in a few days, so that's good I guess? So if you're looking for a company that will take your money for an item they don't actually have, ask you to wait an extra 5 months for it, not respond to your calls, but return your money in a somewhat timely manner, then English Elm is perfect for you!
Never, ever order from a company that refuses to put a phone number or physical address on their website, or provide it to resolve complaints.
Shipped an item I had cancelled, and refused to recall the shipment, putting the burden on me to ship the item back.
Radio silence for weeks out of the nearly two months we waited for the product. Expected delivery December 18th and it arrived a full month later. No updates for four weeks. Then the chair arrived damaged.
This is the worst online purchase experience I've ever had. We ordered a swivel glider for nursing and it arrived weeks after our baby was born leaving us with no place to nurse during that time. English Elm is absolute garbage customer service and the products are either used or getting damaged in their incredibly slow shipping.
